They are calling this time the Great Migration, and for good reason.

Here are some tips for starting a new job that might be a good place to start.

  1. The beginning will be like drinking from a fire hose. Take notes and be organized but also do not have too much pressure on yourself. This is a great time to observe; and be active in your onboarding. You will never be as objective as you are now.
  2. This is a great time to save topics you will have to go back to later after a couple weeks in the role. Make sure you set meetings with those that know more than you; and meet as many people as possible in the first couple weeks before you are fully ramped; when you have the time.
  3. Coming from another company gives you a built in view on some procedures and procedures that might add more effectiveness to your role at your new gig. Make sure you highlight what worked at your old role or team to see if you can come in with some quick wins.

What has worked for you for a new job?

Cheers,

Reth
